Recently, a full-sized folding bike called IF-Mode was launched a the 2008 Taipei Bicycle Show. The bike was created by Mark Sanders, a British bike designer, who designed the famous Strida bike. He teamed up with Ming Cycles and Pacific Cycles to deisgn this new bike.
The IF-Mode has monoforks and a moncoque frame, and folds in about 2 seconds (see the video below).
Sanders hopes the minimalists, no-fuss design will appeal to those people who don’t usually ride bikes.
Mark Sanders writes about IF-Mode in a guest post on Bicycle Design (scroll halfway down).

Such folding bikes are really very useful..
Please tell me where can I buy the IF MODE bike and how much? I live in Mexico write me to muluc_2012@hotmail.com thanks! =)
IF bikes are made and marketed by pacific-cycles (www.pacific-cycles.com) they have only just been lauched to the bike trade in the far east with western launches at Eurobike and interbike in the USA. From the pacific web site it looks like global distributors have not yet been appointed – there has been alot of interest, so I guess it will go with whoever places the most orders.
Pacific-Cycles are make and sell other excellent folding bikes eg Birdy, carry-me and reach – all on their web site.
I spotted you guys in the oakland tribune papers and read the full article on bikes. My particular intrest are the folding bikes. Im a commuter and would like to know if theres a roadbike with a racing style to it. Am planning to purchase soon and a folding racing road bike will greatly fit my needs. If possible a brochure or something on it would be helpful. Thanks-AL Lee

The IF MODE shown in the photo & video above is an early prototype. The finished version looks even cooler!

Due to the design, the MODE folds instantly (@ 3 seconds) into a package that’s easy to roll, tracking straight with parallel wheels (held together magnetically) and a handlbar stem that doubles as a carry handle.
When you exit the subway train, bus, elevator, office building, etc., unfolding the MODE is just as quick & easy too. Expect your friends to be amazed.
